Auricular Acupuncture
Auricular Acupuncture is a gentle, grounding approach to nervous system support and overall
well-being
Auricular acupuncture, also known as the NADA Protocol, is a gentle treatment that uses five small, sterile, single-use needles placed at specific points on each ear. The protocol is designed to support the nervous system, encourage relaxation, and create a sense of calm and balance.
At Thrive Massage Ann Arbor this service is offered by Camiron Andrews, LMT, who is trained to provide the five-point National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) Protocol.
The NADA Protocol is a non-verbal, restorative approach. After the needles are gently placed, you simply sit quietly and allow yourself time to rest. Sessions are typically quiet and grounding, making auricular acupuncture a wonderful standalone service or a complement to massage and other wellness therapies.

What Can Auricular Acupuncture Support?
Auricular acupuncture may be used as an adjunctive wellness therapy to support people experiencing:
- Stress and nervous system tension
- Trauma recovery and emotional regulation
- Addiction recovery and cravings
- Anxiety and feelings of overwhelm
- Grief and emotional stress
- Headaches
- General relaxation and wellness
- A desire for greater calm, grounding, and balance
Auricular acupuncture is drug-free and complementary, and it can be incorporated alongside other forms of care and support.
The Five NADA Protocol Points
The NADA Protocol uses five specific points on each ear. Each point is traditionally associated with different aspects of relaxation, emotional well-being, and nervous system support:
- Sympathetic: supports relaxation and helps calm the nervous system
- Shen Men: traditionally associated with calming, relaxation, and a sense of inner peace
- Kidney: associated with emotional balance and feelings of safety and stability
- Liver: traditionally associated with emotional regulation and releasing tension
- Lung: associated with grief, breath, and letting go
Once the needles are placed, you’ll have time to sit quietly and comfortably, allowing the experience to unfold without conversation or other stimulation.
A quiet space to rest and pause: life can be demanding, and sometimes the most restorative thing we can do is simply slow down. Auricular acupuncture offers an opportunity to step away from the noise and give your body and nervous system a chance to settle. Whether you’re navigating stress, working through recovery, seeking support during a difficult transition, or simply looking for a deeply grounding wellness experience, this gentle treatment can be a meaningful addition to your self-care routine.
