Heather Kingsbury, LMT

Heather Kingsbury, LMT

After nearly two decades of yoga practice Heather took a trauma-informed yoga teacher training course and she immediately discovered her love and passion for the body. This specialized body work yoga training led to an interest in the benefits of massage therapy and Heather enrolled in the Massage Therapy program at Lansing Community College, graduating in 2019.

Heather’s massage style is unique in that she utilizes her yogic knowledge of movement along with the understanding that our bodies can often harbor feelings, emotions, traumas and memories of life events. Using a foundation of Swedish massage, deep tissue, trigger point release, and variations of pinning and stretching the muscles Heather works to relieve pain and increase mobility. Often she will ask the client to move through a range of motion or use passive movement to increase pressure, create stretch or grant access to more of a muscle’s surface area. Heather believes in consent based work that allows for open communication between client and therapist and enjoys empowering people to listen to the wisdom of their bodies. We are thrilled to have Heather Kingsbury at our Thrive Ann Arbor massage office!
